About Memberships

MarkLives.com now offers you, our readers, the opportunity to help fund us for as little as R50 a month, or R600 per annum. We will remain free and outside a paywall but memberships allow individuals who find value in our publication to both show their support and help finance our operations — for serving you, our industry. We will gradually be adding benefits to memberships; for the moment, its purpose is to assist us in this time of crisis (coronavirus pandemic). We will keep members updated on progress in a private, members-only Facebook group.

MarkLives is South Africa’s only journalism-driven, daily online platform for marketing and advertising industry news, opinion, analysis, case studies, profiles and marketing innovations. We offer a fresh, independent and investigative view of southern Africa’s changing communication landscape.

As other publishers divest from content, we’ve gone the other way. Your support pays for our journalism, which includes fact-checking and sub-editing. It allows us to tell you the stories of the broader marketing and advertising industry. It’s where you read about your newest account wins, appointments and acquisitions. It’s where you read about the latest wave of entrepreneurial agencies and creative talent, as well as what’s happening in the market. We’re an essential resource — and we’ve been doing it this way for 11.5 years.

Since 13 August 2008, we’ve has served more than 5.6m pages to 2.7m unique browsers. More than 4600 features and opinion pieces, and another 1200 news stories, have been published. The rise and fall of a number of agencies have been tracked, the advertising disasters, management shakeups, campaign triumphs and account moves, too. The MarkLives Agency Leaders Most-Admired Poll has become an authoritative measure of industry standing. Entrepreneurs have been celebrated and how the industry is tackling diversity and transformation has been covered. Now we’re tackling the covid-19 pandemic through our #CoronavirusSA special section.

Today, MarkLives is the go-to news resource for our larger industry and its many wonderful, colourful and intriguing human beings. Please consider supporting us with a once-off or monthly contribution.
